Gertrude (Trude) Laetsch Tenefrancia of Stamford passed away peacefully on March 25th at Stamford Hospital. Born in Haan, Germany on December 16, 1928, Trude was predeceased by her parents, Heinrich and Helene Laetsch, her beloved husband Ambrose, as well as a sister, Ria Hallman. She is survived by her brothers Fritz Laetsch, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Frank (Helmut) Laetsch of Haan, Germany, and by her sister Hildegard (Hilda) Fratturo of Stamford. She is also survived by 10 nieces, 3 nephews, 11 grandnieces and 5 grandnephews, all of whom will carry with them cherished memories of their Aunt Trude.
Trude was an accomplished musician who followed her graduation from Shuman Conservatory in Dusseldorf, Germany with a successful career as a soprano in her native land and in the United States. Long after she left the profession, Trude's love of music filled her heart, as did her love for children and for animals. She delighted in spoiling both mightily.
She later expressed her artistic talents through her special eye for beauty and fashion, helping many women to look their best through her work as a cosmetologist for Bloomingdales and Gimbels in Stamford.
Her family will receive friends at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home on 2900 Summer Street, Stamford on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Immediately following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Church of Darien, 1986 Post Road on Tuesday at 10:30 with a burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
