Our beloved mother Betty Nagle (Davis) Hardiman died suddenly at home on November 21, 2016. Betty was born in Stamford on June 10, 1926 to Harold and Anne Lowe Nagle. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew Hardiman, her brother Monsignor William Nagle and grandson Navy SEAL Brian Bill.
Betty attended St. John's School, Sacred Heart Academy, and Danbury State Teachers College where she was Phi Betta Kappa. She received her Master's in Education from Columbia University. Betty taught for 20 years in Stamford, at several schools including Willard, Davenport Ridge, and Stillmeadow.
Betty was an active member of St. Cecilia's Parish, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary Board, and St Leo's Seniors. She was a member of Sterling Farms and Hubbard Heights Women's Golf League, an avid bridge player, a voracious reader, and reveled in being with family and friends. She was a gifted and generous hostess. Just a week ago, she played bridge and was thrilled to win!
Memories of raising her family on Bertmor Drive include busy summers spent at Newfield Swim Club for swim practice, meets and bridge games, neighborhood block parties, massive numbers of Halloween trick or treaters, Christmas Eve Mass and breakfast after. Just this Halloween she was happy to meet the trick or treaters who visited her.
Betty is survived by her 7 children: Patricia Parry and her husband Michael; Anne Goebel and her husband Jim; Sharon Davis; Rev Deacon Thomas Davis and his wife Joanne, Maureen Davis; Mary Sikes and her husband John; and Jeffrey Davis. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Christian Bill, Amy Bill Kutney and her husband Chad; Jay Goebel; Kate Noell and her husband Hunter; Martha Maloney and her husband Tyler; Molly Goebel; Greg Davis; Julia Davis; Sophia Davis; Johnny Sikes; Ben Sikes and Kitt Sikes; by 5 great granddaughters Ryder, Emma and Everest Kutney; Charlotte and Samantha Noell; her brother Dr. John Nagle and his wife Mary; nephews and nieces John, Jeff, Brian, Kerry Nagle and Kathleen Coffey; and her sister and brother-in-law John and Joan Hagan. A new great-grandson is expected in December. We especially want to thank all of her devoted friends who brought much support, love and caring friendship throughout her life.
